Your first appointment is a chance for your dietitian to get to know you and for you to share what you're hoping to achieve. Depending on your dietitian’s recommendation and your insurance plans, initial consultations are typically 60-90 minutes and take place on a video call.
Example topics your dietitian may cover
Your background and what you’re hoping to get out of working with them
Your health history, current eating habits, and lifestyle
Your wellness goals and any medical conditions relevant to your nutrition
Your food preferences, cultural background, and any dietary restrictions
Aligning on a schedule / cadence for future sessions together — we encourage you to find a time that works best for your schedule, which may be different from the timing of the initial consultation appointment
How to prepare for your initial consultation
In advance of your first appointment, be sure to complete your intake form prior to your first appointment (you can access this in your Fay account).
Following your first session
After your first appointment, you'll receive a recap of the goals and next steps you and your dietitian discussed.
If for whatever reason you did not feel the dietitian you met with was the right fit, you can always find another dietitian on Fay to work with.
